Filming Started On Steve Alten’s Shark Film MEG

Steve Alten's MEG

For those looking forward to seeing Steve Alten’s massive shark novel hit the big screen in the not too distant future will be happy to hear that filming has already begun.

That’s right! Principal photography is underway in New Zealand on the science fiction action thriller Meg being directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure movies, Last Vegas). Meg will star stars Jason Statham (Furious 7, The Expendables films) and Award-winning Chinese actress Li Bingbing (Forbidden Kingdom) has been set to star opposite Statham.

A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside.

The film is currently slated for a March 2, 2018 theatrical release from Warner Bros. Pictures.
