When it comes to doom metal, only bad things could ever happen in an orchard. And that’s the melancholical truth in Richmond’s Windhand’s track, “Orchard.” Watch the official video for the track in the player above (the haunting footage was compiled by Jordan Vance.
As excellent and captivating as the video is, the “Orchard” track itself is laced with heavy, melodic, and fuzzed-out riffs that lead the listener on a soul-searching quest. Accompanied by overwhelming lyrics of despair the track will have you circling back to point A of your thoughts over and over again. The rhythm section is mesmerizing, but the mid-song guitar solo is transcending in its feel.

In other news, Windhand has announced a first-ever Australian/New Zealand tour with Beastwars this October. These dates immediately follow a three-week run of headlining North American tour dates with psychedelic Nashville outfit, All Them Witches plus Jex Thoth and Ilsa on select dates. The band has also been handpicked as openers for the legendary Sleep’s sold out show in Philadelphia, on August 26th, and as a headliner for this year’s Day of the Shred Fest in Santa Ana, California, along with Red Fang, Weedeater, Graves at Sea, and many more.
