Francis Ngannou Officially Off Of UFC 215 In Edmonton

On August 18th, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was flagged for a potential USADA violation, who is currently awaiting a hearing to contest the charges. This ultimately left his opponent Francis Ngannou without a fight for UFC 215.

As of today, Ngannou still hasn’t found a new challenge and the search is completely over. According to MMAfighting.com, the Cameroonian-French mixed martial artist is officially off of UFC 215 in September. Ngannou last fought in January, defeating Andrei Arlovski in the very first round by TKO. He has five straight wins in the UFC over heavyweight contenders such as Anthony Hamilton, Bojan Mihajlović, Curtis Blaydes, and Luis Henrique.

This is dos Santos first potential drug violation since his debut at UFC 90 in December 2008. The Brazilian was looking for a big win over Ngannou to put his name back into title contention. Dos Santos lost a recent UFC title championship to Stipe Miocic, who successfully defended the belt via TKO.

There’s no word yet on when Ngannou will return inside the Octagon.
