Ronda Rousey has done it again! The Olympic medalist defeated Cat Zingano in spectacular fashion on Saturday night at UFC 184 in Los Angeles, California. Besides quickly taking out Zingano in 14 seconds with her famous armbar submission, Rousey also earned herself the record for fastest submission win in a UFC title fight and tied with fastest sub win in the history of the UFC.
After defending the women’s bantamweight title for the fifth time in the UFC, it’s safe to say that Rousey is definitely the best female fighter in the world. Her skills are unmatched and she has completely obliterated every potential opponent in her division. There’s really no one left to challenge her in the UFC, however, the champ did hint in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan that she’s interested in squaring off with bantamweight prospect Holly Holm or Bethe Correia next. Both are currently undefeated in mixed martial arts.
As far as Zingano goes, it sounds like she wants an immediate rematch with Rousey, but her loss was so brilliant that I’m pretty sure the UFC has other plans for Zingano’s next opponent. I’m feeling a match with Alexis Davis makes the most sense for Zingano because both lost to Rousey instantly in the first round.
