If you thought Chael Sonnen’s world is coming to ease since he failed two random drug tests administrated by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) for UFC 175, well think again because it’s far from going great for “The American Gangster”.
After the NAC discovered four banned substances in his blood and urine tests, which included the presence of human growth hormone (HGH), Sonnen announced his retirement and was forced to part ways from his duties as analyst for the and FOX Sports 1.
Unfortunately, problems didn’t stop there. The NAC filed a disciplinary complaint against Sonnen, who has until July 17th to appeal it. Sonnen faces a fine of up to $250,000, the suspension of his license, expenses related to the complaint, and must clear a drug test upon his next licensing application.
According to Sonnen’s lawyer Jeff Meyer, he accepted responsibilities for his actions:
Mr. Sonnen does not dispute any of the factual allegations contained in the First Amended Complaint. Mr. Sonnen accepts responsibility for his actions and will comply with the Commission in the prompt resolution of this matter.
Sonnen case is expected to be heard at a hearing held by the NAC on July 23rd.
