9 Minutes Of Multiplayer Footage From Watch Dogs

Did you skip this awesome new multiplayer gameplay trailer for Watch Dogs from Ubisoft last week? If so, then you’re missing out since it only features footage from online modes such as Hacking Contracts, ctOS – Mobile Companion App, and Competitive Decryption Combat. The video clip above demonstrates those modes to its fullest, and it seems like Watch Dogs could potentially be the sandbox game that brings the multiplayer component to the next level.

According to the game’s Lead Gameplay Designer Danny Belanger, Watch Dogs is going to have “seamless online” experience rather than having a traditional one.

We don’t talk about it in terms of single-player and multiplayer, it’s all online. It’s seamless. You continue your game. That aspect, for me, is crucial because otherwise it’s a break in the experience.

In addition, the multiplayer modes won’t be accessible through a typical menu like most games do, but an algorithm will determine how much of an online experience you’re looking for, which can be toggled off in the settings.

Belanger explains:

We have a shield, so if someone comes into your game and hacks you, you’re protected. It can’t happen. The less you partake in the multiplayer, the longer the shield. If you’re not hacking people and you’re not into that gameplay, the game will recognize and acknowledge that you’re not into that. That’s fine.

Lastly, Watch Dogs will also allow others to invade your game without disrupting key story elements. So far I’m sold on the multiplayer aspect, and make sure you watch the video this time so you can have your say in the comments section below.
