Alien F. Jourgensen – An Immortalization Of Another Sort

Alien F Jourgensen

We’ve heard it before, back in 2008 actually, but Ministry founder Al Jourgensen has stepped away from music again. This time, however, instead of being destined for a Wacken reunion he’s destined for an appearance at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con. If Con goers are lucky, maybe there’ll be a Ministry one-off reunion — that’s if Jourgensen attends. And why wouldn’t he attend? A comic book is being developed around him as Alien F. Jourgensen.

Ministry: The Devil’s Chord – The Chronicles of Alien F. Jourgensen will be a 13-issue graphic novel series in which Jourgensen is the protagonist. The character gets pushed around by his record label, but ultimately he decides to pursue his own dreams — and in the process discovers that he has powers. The comic is currently being developed by Sam Shearon, and as Jourgensen told Loudwire:

I’ve been wanting to step away from music for a bit… switch gears… Then I met Sam and then POOF! Sam turns me into a superhero. Ya, I’ll sign up for that! I’d love to have people like Trent Reznor, Billy Gibbons, and Billy Haynes be characters in the series. I mean, who doesn’t want to be a superhero?

While the idea of an ensemble metal and rock cast of characters in the comic is enticing, it’s being reported that graphic novelist William Burroughs and psychologist/psychedelic drug advocate Timothy Leary make an appearance.

For research, Sam had the enviable honor of living with Al Jourgensen and wife Angelina for two weeks. Of the experience, Sam has stated that this was “one of the most exciting projects [he’s] ever worked on. There were many days and nights where Al and [he] would be still awake at around 5 a.m. watching the sunrise, surrounded by empty beer bottles.”

Yes, we are very much excited to see Ministry: The Devil’s Chord – The Chronicles of Alien F. Jourgensen in our grubby little paws.
