Star Wars: Episode VII Gets A Possible Release Date

Star Wars: Episode VII

Who isn’t thrilled about a new trilogy in the Star Wars franchise, even if Disney is involved? It’s been almost an entire year since they announced the purchase of Lucasfilm Limited, LLC, and it was previously said that Star Wars: Episode VII was penciled in for 2015.

Based on the latest report, Disney President Alan Horn confirmed during a panel at the D23 convention that the forthcoming episode is still slated for 2015. However, an official date isn’t set into stone yet, but it sounds like Disney is eyeing an usual release in December rather than in May. If you’re a Star Wars fanboy, or fangirl then you should know all previous episodes were released in May. Since production for Star Wars: Episode VII doesn’t start until 2014, rumour is that a summer release just isn’t feasible considering the huge budget involving complicated visual effects and stuntwork.

Lastly, if you aren’t completely up-to-date, we just want to squash any rumour about director J.J. Abrams (Super 8, Star Trek Into Darkness) not being on board to direct Episode VII. According to a spokesperson for Disney, Abrams is having a “great time” working on the next episode.

“There is no truth to the rumour. JJ is having a great time working on the script and is looking forward to going into production next year.”
