2016 has been the worst year ever for celebrities passing away. We are sad to report iconic actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise also died on Tuesday morning at 60-years-old.
According to online sources, Fisher was taken to hospital after suffering from cardiac arrest during a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday, but she never recovered.
Her family spokesman, Simon Halls, released the following statement:
It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.
Before passing away Fisher published a memoir called The Princess Diarist and appeared as an elderly Princess Leia in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In addition, a 3D rendering of a younger Leia also appeared in the conclusion of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
