Wolfenstein: The New Order

It sounds like development delays are conquering the world of Bethesda Softworks these days, a publisher who usually doesn’t have any issues in the delay department.

According to Polygon, Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines confirmed some unfortunate news regarding the upcoming first-person shooter Wolfenstein: The New Order , which is now to be launched in 2014 rather than at the end of this year. This sucks for fans of the Wolfenstein series, but since developer Machine Games needs more time to develop it for next-gen consoles, and polish elements in the game, then we can’t really be pissed off at them for trying to make a quality FPS. Can we? Or do we really want another fuck up like Aliens: Colonial Marines? I doubt it.

Here is what Hines said about the development on New Order,

“Working on next-gen and current gen definitely has an impact, you’re developing for two different things, Hines said. The fact that the next-gen stuff is still moving is also definitely a factor. But the most important thing was definitely just looking where it was at, what they needed to polish. Because it’s just not trying to be a shooter, because it’s trying to be a shooter that also has driving elements, story elements, narrative, stealth sections — each one of those has to be excellent.”

Wolfenstein: The New Order is currently in developed for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, including next-gen consoles such as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
