As expected, the featherweight prospect Conor McGregor picked up his first win inside the Octagon yesterday in Stockholm, Sweden. The Irishman from Dublin, Ireland broke his opponent Marcus Brimage mentally during the weigh-ins on Friday, which allowed McGregor to exploit Brimage’s emotional weakness in the first round. McGregor was hands down successful just like a UFC veteran, winning via TKO in just over a minute, and picked up a whopping $60,000 bonus win for Knockout of the Night.
It was a hell of a great debut for McGregor, unfortunetly, it was a shame that the fight was on the UFC Facebook prelims. However, Dana White confirmed during the UFC on Fuel TV 9 post-fight conference that he’ll be looking to put McGregor on the UFC on FOX Sports 1 event set for August 17th at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
“The answer is yes, you’re going to ask if I’m going to put McGregor on that card.”
No opponent is officially announced yet, but we can be damn sure McGregor will be fighting on the main card this time. But before that show happens, follow McGregor in this newblog as he prepared for his UFC debut.
The video captures him getting swarmed with media questions, feeling out the Octagon, and getting his wisdom tooth taken out before his fight with Marcus Brimage.
