Universal Hires A New Writer To Pen The Wolf Man

The Wolf Man

It sounds like the new Wolf Man movie needs a rewrite or have another eye to simply polish a draft before bringing the horror film to the big screen again. Hiring a new writer is Universal’s next step in moving forward with the famous night crawler monster.

In a recent report from THR, the online magazine revealed that Universal has hired Dave Callaham to rewrite The Wolf Man script, which was previously penned by Aaron Guzikowski (new Friday the 13th movie, Prisoners).

Universal is re-launching its monsters universe, so I guess they want to be certain The Wolf Man will interconnect well with other monsters based on its vault of classic horror movies, such the Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man and Bride of Frankenstein. The new monsters universe is overseen by Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek) and Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious). They’re are currently attached to the new Mummy, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 9, 2017, with a cast that includes Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, and Russell Crowe.

The Wolf Man was a 1941 Universal film originally directed by George Waggner that starred Lon Chaney Jr. as a man who returns to his homeland where he is attacked and becomes a werewolf
