If you like the Gothenburg metal sound, perhaps early In Flames, and you’ve never heard of Nightrage, you’re missing out. Formed in Greece back in 2000, these guys are are savage and visceral, and their “softer” moments are mesmerizing.
Giving you a little background on the band requires me to tell you that this was Ozzy’s and Firewind’s Gus G.’s band, before he left in 2009.
Now, the Nightrage has signed a record/publishing deal with Swedish music company, Despotz. The band will enter the studio this September to record their sixth studio album, which is expected to drop in February 2015, with a new video/single to be unleashed this fall.
Nightrage’s Marios Iliopoulos has commented on the Despotz signing:

We are super excited to work with such a dedicated bunch of people, and we are entering studio Dugout Productions with Daniel Bergstrand on September 15. We would like to take this opportunity to now officially introduce Ronnie Nyman as our ‘new’ vocalist.
During Nightrage’s career, various musicians from At The Gates, Evergrey, Dark Tranquility, Amaranthe, and Firewind have lent their services. In its 14 years, Nightrage has released five studio albums and toured across Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Asia.
