To deny Korn‘s success is pretty stupid. You can’t argue with the numbers. Since forming in 1993, the Nu Metal act has released 11 studio albums, 3 live albums, 7 compilation albums, 7 albums, and 7 EPs. Twelve of those official releases have landed within the top 10 of the Billboard 200, 8 of them in the top 5. With 35 million albums sold worldwide, 8 platinum albums, and one gold, you can’t say that they haven’t been successful with what they do.
Personally, I never liked them. I know that a lot of you do, and I can honestly see why; just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean I can’t see what makes them popular or attractive as a musical outlet. Heavy beats, empassioned lyrics, aggressive in nature, I get it. It’s thick and it’s ruccous.
Anyway, for the benefit of those of you who do like Korn, here’s this week’s selection for Yell! Magazine’s Full Concert Series. Here’s their 2013 performance at Rock im Park in Germany. It’s a good mix of old and new material.
Having seen Korn, and not being a fan, I have to say that they have big energy, only a fraction of which comes across in this video.
