Was anyone impressed with this week’s episode of? “Claimed” spent some time introducing us to our new characters, Sgt. Abraham Ford, Dr. Eugene Porter, and Rosita Espinosa. With Glenn and Tara in the bed of the military truck, Ford and crew are headed toward Washington, D.C., and they’re miles past the bus wreckage that Glenn believes his wife is headed for.

Who is Dr. Eugene Porter?
Why are they headed for D.C.? Because “the fate of the entire damn human race might depend on it,” according to Ford. Apparently, Eugene is a scientist and he knows exactly what caused theoutbreak, but when Glenn asks what caused it, mullethead responds, “It’s classified.” Of course it is.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not impressed by ol’ mullethead for a couple of reasons. First, he has a mullet and looks like he was living in his mother’s basement up until the moment the outbreak happened. Second, how has he survived so long and not know not to shoot a rifle at a truck, specifically its fuel tank? And finally, his asinine comment to Ford, “trust me, I’m smarter than you.” Simply, the guy is like an awkward pedophile.
Gingerhead Ford, on the other hand, he seems likeable. At first I wasn’t a fan, but he’s going to grow on me.
On toward Sanctuary
With a decommissioned truck, Glenn and Tara lead the new characters south, and I imagine that they’re also going to end up in the sanctuary… the same one that Carol and Tyreese are heading for and the same one that Rick, Michonne, and Carl find a sign for at the end of this episode.
We also learned more about Michonne in this episode. She reveals to Carl that she had a 3-year-old child, which piques Carl’s curiosity and he continues to ask her questions about her previous life.
While Michonne and Carl are out gathering food and supplies, Rick takes a nap in the house they previously cleared. But while sleeping, he’s awakened by the sound of intruders, who appear to be anything but friendly. Some how, Rick manages to escape the house and intercepts Michonne and Carl just as they’re approaching the house.
What are the questions we can ask about this episode?
-What, if anything, is at this sanctuary everyone is being guided toward?
-Does Eugene really know what caused the zombie outbreak? Or is he just talking shit? Really, how likely is it that the one scientist who knows anything has survived, especially being the pansy that this guy is?
-Will Glenn find Maggie?
-What is motivating Ford?
-Why is Tara, formerly cast as a pretty badass cop, being written as a little girl?
-How many rogue bandits are out there that our heroes will have to contend with?
I’m pretty sure that all of our favorite characters will make it to this sanctuary, but I don’t think they’ll stay. I think Eugene will die. I’m sure that the rest of the season will dole out bits of information about Michonne as her character becomes increasingly important. I think Rick will rat out Carol to Tyreese and that he’ll forgive her, but I think Michonne will take over as Judith’s caregiver.
What are you thoughts about what’s going on? What are your predictions for what’s to come in the rest of the season?
