OK, sure, it’s easy to understand right now that the recent situation that forced Alexander Gustafsson out of a fight would piss off any boss, especially a boss who can’t stand any bullshit – like Dana White.
Gustafsson, who was cut above the left eye during wrestling practice in March, was officially ruled medically unfit to fight in the main bout for UFC on FUEL TV 9 card. According to their examination by the Swedish MMA Federation (SMMAF) on Tuesday, the laceration will not heal in time for the fight against Gegard Mousasi. As a result, Gustafsson’s teammate, Ilir Latifi (a relative unknown), has replaced him.
After that disappointing announcement, White got his hands on a recent photo of Gustafsson during a press interview, and quickly hit Twitter with the following statement.
This pic was taken of Gustafsson today and u can't even see the cut!!! Worst decision I have EVER seen to pull fight pic.twitter.com/u5YwsxA0Pf

It’s clear to me that he is completely unhappy with the decision made by the SMMAF, and based on the picture above, I can understand why. But let’s face it, that cut would not last more than one round inside the Octagon, and Gegard Mousasi already said that he would attack the cut without any hesitation to win the fight. Just knowing Gegard’s intention makes it fair enough to say that the fight would have been in jeopardy by a quick referee stoppage, and a disappointing loss for Gustafsson would be inevitable.
In my opinion, I think it was a good call by the SMMAF, and Dana White should back off a little on this one. What do you think?
