While details on the forthcoming Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z are sketch, we do know that there’s a trailer and the ‘Z’ in the title should stand for . That’s right, more . rule, deal with it.
It appears that Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is slated for a 2013 release, though an exact date has yet to be announced. Developed by Team Ninja, Spark Unlimited, and Comcept, published by Tecmo Koei, producer Keiji Inafune had this to say at the recent Tokyo Game Show:
“As you may know I’m a greatfan. When I left my previous company, my dream was to make a zombie game.” I’m very happy to be making this game with Team Ninja. Just as much as I love zombies, I like samurai and ninjas. My dream was to always make a ninja game so this collaboration that I’m announcing today is almost a dream come true.”
As you’ll be able to infer from the trailer, you won’t be playing as Ryu Hayabusa as you have in past Ninja Gaiden editions. This time around you’ll be playing as Yaiba, a zombie-killing cyborg ninja on the hunt for Ryu, or at least we don’t think he’s looking to ask Ryu out for dinner when he says, “Ryu, I’m coming for you,” in the trailer.
We’re excited about Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z and will keep you posted as news comes in. For now, enjoy the trailer and please tell us what you think.
