Edgar Allen Poe died a mysterious death some 160 years ago, and his stories and legacy are still scaring us today. Contrary to popular belief, Poe was not found dead outside a bar; he was found distressed and delirious outside a Baltimore bar and he died in hospital.
We’ll be researching this film more, but for now we just wanted to bring you the exciting news, and the trailer, of the Sherlock Holmesian film The Raven, which is a fictionalized account of Poe’s last days as he helps hunt down a serial killer who’s challenged the author to a game of wits and is using his material as the basis for his killings.
The Raven, directed by James McTeigue (V For Vendetta, The Invasion, Ninja Assassin) is scheduled for a March 2012 release and stars John Cusack, Alice Eve, and Luke Evans.
It should be noted that John Cusack (as much as I love him for his romcom stuff) has successfully transferred his thespian skills to horror and suspense (see: Identity, The Ice Harvest, 1408).
