The Babadook: Two New Clips – “Don’t Let It In!”

The great thing about foreign horror films is that they somehow defy the conventions that we’re used to seeing in North American releases. This seems to be the case with the upcoming Australian supernatural horror, The Babadook, which seems to be a possession-type of film and a slow-burn of suspense. Also, anything involving chidren is automatically scarier.

If you’re not already familiar with Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook, watch the trailer in the player at the top. Now that your spine is shivering, head on down the page for the two new clips that extend a couple of the scenes in the trailer.

The Babadook Synopsis:

Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her “out of control” 6-year-old, Samuel (Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both.

When a disturbing storybook called “The Babadook” turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control; he becomes more unpredictable and violent. Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son’s behavior, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.

The film stars Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear.

While North American audiences will miss out on The Babadook for Halloween with its November 28th release date, those horror fans in the UK can enjoy this one on October 24th.
