Last week we brought you news of Calgary’s groove metal tyrants False Flag and their forthcoming EP, Nest of Vipers (August 4th). We were blown away by the four-track EP and couldn’t praise the band’s inventiveness, musicianship, and heaviness enough, so it gives us great pleasure to premiere to the world the EP’s third track, “Reversion of Sin.” This is something that you’re not going to want to miss!
This is the track on the EP that best shows the range of influence and how False Flag has blended them into a wholly original and unpretentious sound. While it’s true that Russ Gauthier, Dan Ishak, Mike Harach, and John Byskal clearly have impressive tactile control of their instruments, it’s also clear that they believe that the song comes first. So, while there are moments for them all to shine in this sludgy thrasher, nothing is done to compromise the destructive impact of this masterful track.
