In 1968, George A. Romero shocked the world with the Night of the Living Dead. His independent horror film was both extremely scary and very controversial at the time of its release, which helped it become an instant classic. After the release of Night of the Living Dead, the movie paved the road for all future zombie movies. However, we can now also give credit to the highly stylized Walking Dead TV series on AMC for giving the genre the mainstream attention it deserves.
