This video is pure genius. If you never thought Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees could be a cute guy with a heart, and in love, you obviously haven’t taken your imagination out for a walk in long time.
The Menzingers used their imaginations and put it to use in creating the video for “I Don’t Wanna Be an Asshole Anymore,” off their new album Rented World. The video stars a Jason Voorhees who’s on a quest of self-improvement as he stalks, I mean woos, a love interest, even to the point of invoking Lloyd Dobler. No girl is safe… err… can resist.
The new album claims to be about “maintaining a sense of self, the softening of posture, and the burden of harsh realities,” which is quite the detour from the usual pop punk subjects. At least they stuck to the classics for this video. The album is getting tons of positive press and can be purchased at MenzingerStore.com or via iTunes.
