It has been somewhat of a year of firsts for Fates Warning: first headlining U.S. tour (which was just completed), first album for InsideOutMusic, and first album in roughly a decade. Now the band has just released their latest music video for “Firefly,” which comes off their latest album, Darkness In a Different Light. The video was was directed David Solbjørg and Kjetil Kolbjørnsrud of Twitchyfilms.

Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder provides some insight into the video for “Firefly”:

I’ve always liked the romantic concept of the firefly. A tiny flashing creature searching for another on a warm summer night. Like stars that move…

During their recent North American tour, Fates Warning also stopped by at FoxCT to perform the song “Firefly” acoustically in the TV studio. Watch the interview and footage here:

OK, the album version is powerful, but there’s something about the acoustic version that’s very compelling. Am I right?

You can buy Fates Warning, Darkness In a Different light at Amazon: MP3 – $5.99 or CD – $11.99
