Def Leppard Is Still At It! Watch The New “Let’s Go” Video

Today marks the release of Def Leppard‘s 11th studio release, the self-titled Def Leppard, and their first new material in 7 years. Today also marks the release of the band’s video for the track “Let’s Go.”

The video shows that the band is still in hot pursuit of that polished chrome look and feel, and that’s great! It worked like a dream on 1987’s Hysteria and, to a certain extend, on 1992’s Adrenalize. If you like Def Leppard’s more recent output, I’m sure you’re going to love “Let’s Go” and it’s companion video… just don’t judge it on its poor animation and graphics.

Granted, the guys are getting old, so you might have to forgive them for sounding like they recycled the guitar riff for “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and stuck it in “Let’s Go.” For that matter, this new song started with great potential to blow the roof off of any arena, but unfortunately it quickly falls to the formulaic template the band has followed with unprecedented dedication since Hysteria.

And let’s be honest, as great a guitarist Vivian Campbell is, Steve Clark’s sound will always and forever be missed. We don’t need a second guitarist with the technical style that Phil Collen has; we need a free and loose guitarist like Clark was to add a bit of diversity and grittiness to the Def Leppard sound.

Can you tell that I like their old stuff?

Order Def Leppard here.

Currently, the Leppers are making their way across the U.S. as part of a massive tour (see the dates on Facebook) that is stopping in 60+ cities across the country through October and is on track to becoming one of this season’s highest grossing outings. Following the U.S. dates, Def Leppard will continue their world tour with shows in the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, and Australia.
