Crown The Empire – “Oh, Catastrophe” Extended Video

Crown the Empire is about to release their debut full-length with Rise Records, and to stoke the flames of anticipation for the album’s November 20 release the band has released a two-part (why two parts?) extended video for “Oh, Catastrophe.” While they may be trying to forge a more credible sound for the metalcore/hardcore genre with their “artcore” video, they come off a tad pretentious. How many years did it take Green Day to tackle something so elaborate? This is Crown the Empire’s debut album, and they’re already alienating potential fans.

However, the video is visually stunning and seems to take cues from The Phantom of the Opera, Romeo & Juliet, and A Clockwork Orange. It might be giving the band too much credit to attribute the video to them, as it’s much more likely that the creativity behind it comes from Producer Joey Sturgis.

Crown the Empire – “Oh, Catastrophe” Part 2

[sic] Rise Records’ Crown the Empire released parts 1 and 2 of the group’s extended music video series for the single “Oh Catastrophe.” It comes off the group’s upcoming album The Fallout, which is set for release on November 20. In addition, the band is confirmed for this year’s Take Action Tour with The Used, We Came As Romans, and Mindflow.

Starting in 2010, the seven-piece band set out with a goal to separate themselves in a genre often cluttered with copy-cat bands. They combined their love for the hardcore genre with infectious, loud, and powerful choruses of generations before their own, and ultimately created a fresh new approach to heavier music. Combined with an equal drive to connect with every last one of their fans, they hope to use whatever notoriety they receive to spread a simple message of belief in yourself, and hope in others.

Their self-released debut EP Limitless, which came out in November 2011, furthered this idea of zero boundaries on what you’re capable of, and has even spawned the name for their fans: “The Limitless.” Through touring and a fantastic web presence, the band has built an incredible foundation of fans that eagerly await their first commercially released record and first full length.

The Fallout was produced by Joey Sturgis (Of Mice & Men, The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack!) and with an intense touring schedule and an unrivaled work ethic, Crown the Empire hopes to take over the music scene in 2012 and beyond, and eventually become one of the major players in rock and roll.
