Watain Debuts First Official Video, “Outlaw”

After 13 years, since their debut album’s release in 2000, Swedish black metallers Watain have finally released their first official music video. The video is for the track “Outlaw” and comes from their latest album The Wild Hunt. Watch the video in the player above.

“Outlaw” was produced by Watain and Johan Bååth, director of the band’s Opus Diaboli DVD in 2012. You have to love the visuals that include grainy and gritty images of surgical procedures, live performances, psychotic behavior, and more. Plus the music is brutal with an accessibility that should appeal outside the black metal circle (notably, Pelle Forsberg’s guitar solo has a distinct Kirk Hammett sound).

Watain’s The Wild Hunt was released in August 2013, and can be ordered on Amazon: CD – $10.99 and MP3 $5.99

Watain commented about the “Outlaw” video:

The ‘Outlaw’ video is a knife stab in the face of today’s clean and witty metal scene and yet another step for us to bring back something real and extreme into this limping music movement.
