Johnny Wore Black’s “Firefly” Video Is Alive!

Johnny Wore Black released Walking Underwater Pt. 2 in November 2014, and a few days ago they released the amazing animated video for “Firefly.” Once again, Johnny Wore Black called upon animator Paul Solomons, who created the band’s 2012 “Noise” video, to put his visionary stamp on the “Firefly” video, which is actually a prequel to the former and features many of the same characters. Of course, we like it because it features the Frankenstein monster and it has some incredible animation.

The song itself is a modern rocker with a definite ’80s indie pop flavor, and I’m loving it. Also, Walking Underwater Pt. 2 features the one and only Dave Ellefson of Megadeth, as well as a few additional guest appearances from Croatian singer Sara Renar and renowned soul singer Loretta Heywood.

Order Walking Underwater Pt. 2 here.

Johnny Wore Black says:

The song is about building hope on unsteady ground. How the people around you watch you fall and have opinions on what you should do, but often don’t actually verbalize it or care to help, so you only have yourself in the end to rely on. Paul, the animator, and I wanted to tell the story a different way, through the eyes of The Firefly, and the original vibe was based around the Frankenstein story and also building on the characters used in our video for ‘Noise.’ It’s a cartoon about people, about life and about love and loss – it’s basically a story about life after death… or is that life after love?
