Capcom Won’t Produce A Sequel Unless A Game Sells Over 2 Million Copies

Dead Rising 3

If you’re a fan of DmC: Devil May Cry, Dead Rising 3, Dragon’s Dogma, and Darkstalkers Resurrection, don’t expect a sequel to those games anytime soon unless they sell over 2 million copies.

According to Capcom’s producer Yoshinori Ono, he said the company is using sales to determine if a game will get a sequel, or not.

For instance, if a game doesn’t sell over 2 million copies, then we’d have to put the brakes on any plans for a sequel, all that means is that we weren’t capable enough. And all we can do after that is to reflect on the experience, take what we can learn from it, and try to apply those lessons on some other title.

Since Dead Rising 3 recently hit Windows PC, the open world horror survival still has potential for another sequel like Resident Evil Revelations did after a PC port, which Capcom cited as one of its financial highlights last year.
