Earlier this year, Repentance hit the scene with a pair of back-to-back demos, released exclusively on YouTube, ahead of their live debut with Trivium. Now, the band enters fall 2018 with the release of “Enter the Gallows,” an epic display of new American metal and their first “official” single, available now on Spotify, iCrap, A
ppless Music, Amazon, YouTube, and more.
“Enter the Gallows” is interesting track, because it starts out with a nu metal vibe, but quickly shifts gears to the more authentic groove metal genre, like Lamb of God and Pantera. What’s also interesting is the vocal delivery — instead of the expected death growl and clean combination, we get the death growl and the typical black metal vocal style.
Repentance commented on the past year:
Since the release of ‘Collide’ and ‘Born to Choose’ this past spring, we have spent much of the year writing mode. We recently jumped into the studio and finished recording some of the new material, emerging excited and proud of the growth in our sound. We’re happy to enjoy ‘Enter the Gallows’!
“Enter the Gallows” was recorded at Electrowerks Recording with Chuck Macack (Born of Osiris, Oceano) engineering. The track was mixed and mastered by Chris Collier (Prong, Korn, RiotV) of CMC21 Productions.
Founded in 2018, Repentance features former SOiL and Dirge Within guitarist, Shaun Glass; Stuck Mojo frontman, Robby J. Fonts; lead guitarist, Markus Johansson (THEM); drummer, Anthony Lien; and Mike Sylvester on bass.
