Italian Apocalyptic crust act, Buioingola (“Darkness in my Throat”), is getting ready for the release of their debut Dopo L’Apnea, via newly formed independent label Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
It might be just me, because I’ve said it before about Darkthrone, but the sound and atmosphere produced by Buioingola reminds me of early Type O Negative. I think it’s the crushing doom riffs combined with the Gothic overtones. The promo material describes the band a post-punk mix of bands like Amebix, Cocteau Twins, Neurosis, and Joy Division, and with some Gothic and icy industrial overtones thrown in the mix.
If you’re interested, head on over to Sentient Ruin’s Bandcamp page to have a listen. I think you’ll find the music atmospheric and highly conducive to working or smoking… If you like what you hear, support the band and front the reasonable prices listed on the streaming page.
Buioingola was formed by Diego (vocals/guitars), Thomas (drums), and Alessio (bass) in Pisa, Tuscany. In 2012, they released a three-track demo, which led to the recording of Dopo L’Apnea, which was recorded and mixed in February 2013 by Lorenzo Capurro at Sonik Studio 1996 and mastered by Gabriele Caldini. Artwork for the album is by Virgilio.
Having played live with the likes of Corrections House, OvO, Ufomammut, Cancer Bats, Hierophant, and others, Buioingola will continue to take their noise to the streets across Italy over the coming weeks, and will work well beyond the confines of their native country in the coming months.
