Director Shane Black Reveals New Predator Details

The Predator (2018)

With filming to begin around early to mid-February, director Shane Black has revealed new details on the upcoming Predator film. Speaking to Collider, Black said he thinks the new installment should feature elements of horror and humor, and ultimately be “wondrous.”

I think it should be scary, I think it should be funny, and I think ultimately it should be wondrous and about perceiving things that human beings very seldom get a chance to see…

At the moment, plot details are still completely unknown, but it sounds like fans can expects to see a similar Commando squad like in the original classic, which was led by Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Black also played as the wisecraking Hawkins. Perhaps the new film will focus on new personalities and characteristics.

Black said,

I don’t know that we’re going to deviate over much from that, but there are at least a couple of factors that we’ve deliberately chosen to make it not just that group of buff, tough guys.

Earlier this month, we reported that Boyd Holbrook is negotiating to star in The Predator. Benicio Del Toro was offered the role, but pulled out due to scheduling conflicts. There’s also speculation that Schwarzenegger may even reprise his role as Dutch, but don’t mark my words.

Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps) co-wrote the screenplay with Black. Officially entitled The Predator is due out on February 9th, 2018.
