It seems ironic, just a little, that Mischa Barton, star of The O.C., would star in a movie that satirizes and promotes the slaying of reality TV stars, but that’s exactly what she’s doing in L.A. Slasher. The movie is directed, written, and produced by Martin Owen, with Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger producing. Barton will appear alongside Drake Bell (Drake & Josh), Brooke Hogan (Hogan Knows Best), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Abigail Wright (Anger Management), Tori Black (Ray Donovan), Frank Collison (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman), Marisa Lauren (Superhero Movie), Danny Trejo (Machete), and the always annoying Andy Dick (The Andy Dick Show).
L.A. Slasher will open in theaters on June 12, 2015.
L.A. Slasher Synopsis:
A biting social satire of reality TV and the glorification of those who are “famous for being famous,” L.A. Slasher takes aim at the current state of the entertainment industry, where it is acceptable (and even admirable) to gain influence and wealth without merit or talent – but instead through shameful behavior and the notoriety that comes from it. Incensed by the tabloid culture that promotes this new breed of “celebrities,” the L.A. Slasher publicly abducts a series of reality TV stars, which leads the media and the general public to question if perhaps society is better off without them.
