The Walking Dead‘s upcoming companion series, Fear the Walking Dead, has begun production today in Vancouver, B.C., with future filming to take place in Los Angeles. The premise of the show takes us back to the early days of the virus outbreak that we’re all familiar with, only this time it’s set up in Los Angeles, which means more silicone-enhanced and botoxed zombies! There’s gotta be a way to weaponize those implants.

But in all seriousness, there’s just no way this show should fail when one considers that The Walking Dead is the Number 1 show among the 18-49 age demographic. Fear the Walking Dead is expected to premiere later this summer on AMC.

The new show, which will consist of six one-hour episodes, is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, and showrunner David Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. Co-Executive Producer Adam Davidson will direct the first three episodes.

From Kirkman’s mouth:

Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of The Walking Dead. A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We’re going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up.
