It’s time for fans to pull out the classic Gremlins collection and get reacquainted with all the wacky moments from the franchise. Since the horror-comedy is already over 25 years old, I’m sure many memorable scenes are lost and forgotten. Plus, there’s a third Gremlins installment in the works again, so I suggest you get cracking right now with multiple viewings of Gremlins and the underrated Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
So, what’s the deal with the third film? Well, we can tell you it won’t be a direct sequel to Gremlins 2 as many hoped for, but rather a remake. Yes, another remake! Cry me a river, man! The new project was presumed dead over the past few months, but it appears Warner Bros. has resurrected the franchise from the dead, as a writer has been hired to pen the remake’s script. According to /Film, the studio has hired Carl Ellsworth (The Last House on the Left, Red Eye), a veteran writer who previously wrote both the hardcore horror and horror-comedy sub-genres. His newest challenge is now set on the Gremlins remake.
Lastly, Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg are back in the franchise. They’re attached as producers.
