The new track, “Death Awaits,” from Toronto’s Laugh at the Fakes (LATF), is pretty damn cool. What’s so likeable about the track is the way the band blends a multitude of genres to make a compelling and unique sound. The first half of the track, and the closing, unmistakably takes influence from the likes of King Diamond, before hitting a funky bass that resembles something from Suicidal Tendencies, and last but not least breaks into a hardcore thrash metal riff not unlike some old-school Anthrax. How’s that for a ride?
“Death Awaits” comes off the band’s upcoming full-length, Dethrone the Crown (November 14th).
LATF will be hosting a CD release day party at Bovine Sex Club on November 14th with support from locals The Greater Good, Take The Apple, and Downtown Felons. For tickets and info go here.
