Is there a better day to give you some Drunk Dad than today, Father’s Day? Of course there’s not, which is why we’re delivering their latest single, “Life’s Work,” from their debut album, Ripper Killer. Head over to to hear the mayhem.

The new album from this Portland-based chaos unit will hit on July 1st, via the Eolian Empire label. Ripper Killer will be available digitally and on a heavyweight 180-gram LP in a run of 475 copies, each including a 12″ x 24″ poster/insert and digital download code.

The sludgy band is being heralded as a “fuck-you-all-wave,” since classification is seemingly difficult. However, some have described their sound as “Kurt Cobain throwing the Butthole Surfers and Melvins in a wood chipper.” That’s pretty accurate. I don’t think it’s entirely true to say that Drunk Dad are unclassifiable, in a lot of ways they seem to spawn from the influence of Pavement, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, the Melvins, and yeah, even Nirvana.

Check out Drunk Dad’s “Light a Fire” and I guarantee that at some point you’ll draw comparisons to the hidden track, “Endless, Nameless,” on Nirvana’s Nevermind. Needless to say, I think if you like that indie/grunge feedback vibe put out by Sonic Youth and Nirvana, you’ll dig Drunk Dad.

Drunk Dad is currently scheduling a U.S. tour on the East Coast with fellow Eolian scum, Honduran, which will be finalized and announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime the band will continue pillaging their Northwestern turf.
