Behemoth might deliver the most powerful album of 2014 (an early call, I know), and along with that the band is also releasing a four-part series that offers some powerful words. The making of The Satanist video series is supposed to chronicle a selection of the creative and technical processes behind the album, but you’re forgiven if you take away inspirational words and make them your personal mantra.
What are those words?
In Part I of the series (in the video player above), over a haunting video of Behemoth performing live, frontman Nergal voices the following words:
The Satanist is a manifesto in which we metaphorically construct our resentment for the order imposed by the cultural and social conditionings. Our sounds and words on the album are like a huge phallus that brutally rapes every taboo concept or sanctity. The Satanist… is a manifesto of a wise man, a free man, a man who dares to say ‘no,’ and a man who is brave enough to redefine himself from the very foundation. A man who has the balls to build his own world on the ruins of the old one.
Nergal has also stated that “The Satanist is magic. It’s dangerous. It’s adventurous, and it’s organic.” Yes, that’s something to be anticipated.
If you missed it last month (December 2013), Behemoth released the first music video from The Satanist. “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel” is a work of art complemented by tons of satanic imagery. Would you expect anything else?
