Erra released the lyric for their new song “Pulse,” which comes off the band’s upcoming full-length album, Augment. The album isn’t slated to hit shelves until October 29th, but you can place pre-orders now for the new CD and merch at tragicherorecords.merchnow.com.
Erra will also head out on two tours this fall. First is a co-headlining CD release tour with Reflections starting on October 19th. After that, they’ll head out with The Predatour, Ice Nine Kills, Famous Last Words, Sirens & Sailors, and Chasing Safety on November 1st..
Honestly, I’m not big on metalcore, but “Pulse” actually sounds really good, and I’ll be damned if that bass guitar breakdown isn’t cool as hell.
“It’s a very appropriate title based on everything we are trying to accomplish and all the growth we have gone through since our last record,” says guitarist Jesse Cash. “Nothing is taken away or watered down, only improved upon, and if anything, we accentuated all the parts that people wanted to hear more of this time around.”
And while I’m digging this song, I can’t fully stand behind the second half of Cash’s statement above. I get that they’re making “popular” music and that the point is to sell records, but there’s this part of me that’s saying musicians should make music for themselves, not for their fans. The good shit isn’t contrived. I guess it’s what they call a double-edged sword.
Yell your thoughts about the song in the comments section below.
