Damn! I never knewlightweight “Cowboy” Cerrone has rage issues; it just never showed in interviews or inside the Octagon. Today, we’ve learned something new from CagePotato, who broke the news and reported that Cerrone has been charged with a Misdemeanor Assault in Colorado.
According to the Grand County Colorado Sheriff’s Department, Cerrone was involved in a road rage incident on a boat, which escalated and got out of control.
Donald A. Cerrone, 30 years of age, has been charged with Third Degree Assault by a summons to court, and it is a Class One Misdemeanor. There is no warrant for him at this time. Mr. Cerrone and another person, Jeffrey S. Aley, were involved in a boating rage incident (similar to road rage but by use of boats) on Lake Granby. The incident escalated to the point where Mr. Cerrone assaulted Mr. Aley. Mr. Aley was also charged with Reckless Operation of a boat and Reckless Endangerment, a Class Three Misdemeanor. The case is still ongoing, and has not been concluded in court.
At the moment, I’m not 100% sure if this will impact his MMA career with the UFC because legal troubles like this could lead to a cut. However, the UFC hasn’t officially announced a fight card change yet since Cerrone is scheduled to fight Rafael Dos Anjos next week at UFC Fight Night 27: Condit vs. Kampmann 2.
We’ll keep our readers in the know if any further details are announced.
