SOil Wrote You A “Hate Song”

Chicago’s SOil is getting ready to release their sixth studio album, Whole, on August 20th. The band has already released the official video for the hard and surprisingly soulful track “Shine On” (above) and a lyric video for “Amalgamation” (below) as a part of the new album’s promotion. The latest to join the promo campaign is the stream of “The Hate Song,” available exclusively at Check it out and I think you’ll agree that there’s something more to it than the other stuff on active rock radio; the hook and chorus are tight and highly addictive while being familiar, but there’s a certain edge here that rises it above its peers.

Whole is one of the fall’s most anticipated rock albums, which can be pre-ordered now at iTunes,, and

“It was funny how the song came about,” singer Ryan McCombs says of “The Hate Song.” “Adam was doodling on his guitar making this super annoying sound when he caught me staring at him with a ‘WTF’ look. He apologized but I responded that, ‘No. That annoying fucking sound would be perfect for this song about hate I had an idea for.’ The sound itself makes me want to knock holes in the wall.”

SOiL’s sixth studio album, Whole, marks singer Ryan McCombs’ return to the band for the first time since 2004’s Re.De.Fine, after spending six years as the vocalist for Drowning Pool. On their latest record, SOiL returns with a ferocious release that features 11 rock radio anthems including “Shine On,” “Amalgamation,” “The Hate Song,” and “Loaded Gun,” which take fans back to the early sound of the band.
