That’s right, folks. What’s widely considered to be the sequel to Zack Snyder’s adaptation of Frank Miller’s work, is not truly a sequel at all. Nor is it a regurgitation of the 2006 film. As 300: Rise of an Empire‘s director, Noam Murro, has stated, it is a very different story with multiple battles, locations, and tactics.
OK, so how different is it? Well, it take place at relatively the same time as 300, and it’s out at sea. Also, we have a central general, Themistokles, however, his men are reluctant warriors who are less-than-trained combatants. Xerxes makes an appearance as well, but with Eva Green’s Artemisia character at his side.
You be the judge.
300: Rise of an Empire was once again adapted from a Frank Miller work and written by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad. The film will be released on August 2nd.
