Chael Sonnen Hits Back At The Olympic Committee For Dropping Wrestling From 2020 Games [VIDEO]

It’s not shocking to hear that Chael Sonnen was all fired up on Fuel TV last night about yesterday’s announcement that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has voted to cut wrestling from the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Considering that wrestling has been a part of the Olympics since the 1896 Games in Athens, Greece, and that the form is one of the many links with the world of MMA, it really isn’t surprising that many MMA fighters are angry, including Sonnen. If you know very little on his background, then you know that he was a silver medalist at the Greco-Roman World University Championships in 2000, so his insider knowledge on wrestling shouldn’t be over looked one bit.

The cut obviously has an impact on combat sport, and like Kenny Florian said, it will definitely shatter any future dreams for kids who wish to compete in the Olympics one day.

Sonnen is a true wizard when it comes to words, and I urge you to listen to what he has to say about this sad situation. I’m sure in the upcoming weeks, we’ll hear a lot more about this controversial topic from other fighters like Randy Couture and Ronda Rousey.
