I say it’s never to early in the morning to crank up some good ol’ metal tunes, especially a new one that just got released yesterday by an American metalcore band that’s guaranteed to make your ears bleed.
As I Lay Dying recently wrapped up its sixth studio album, Awakened, with punkrecord producer Bill Stevenson (also known as the drummer of the Descendents). The anticipated new album was recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, and Lambesis Studios in San Diego, California, and it is set to be released on September 25, 2012, through Metal Blade Records.
Two months ago we interviewed frontman Tim Lambesis, at the 2012 D-Tox Rockfest. He openly discussed his collaboration with Stevenson on Awakened and why it was important for him to bring some change to the band. Although, the sound still remains like As I Lay Dying, you will be surprised to hear more punk influences on the clean vocals of Josh Gilbert (bassist), who has already been compared to Sum 41 in our album review coming up shortly.
“A Greater Foundation” is the first official musicfor Awakened. It’s fast, it’s brutal, and it should be enough for you to judge whether or not you like the new direction of the album. So, check it out, and leave us your thoughts in the comment section below.
