Another sweet victory goes to UFC 170, which took place tonight at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.Women’s Bantamweight Champion thanks to her rapid hands and knees that put a stop to former Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann in the very first round at
The main event between Rousey and McMann was fairly short, but within a few seconds of round one, it was an all out war that went back and forth. Surprisingly, both female fighters avoided going for a takedown, but Rousey managed to fire up a few more strikes than McMann in a clinch. Rousey landed solid elbows, but it was her second knee to the liver that ultimately finished the fierce McMann. Referee Herb Dean was forced to step in and stop the fight at 1:06 since McMann was on the ground in severe pain, unable to defend herself. This marks the ninth straight win for Rousey and her first one by TKO in the UFC.
As for the co-main event between Daniel Cormier and Patrick Cummins, well, that was a complete dud. But did anyone really expect the newcomer to take Cormier out in light heavyweight? I don’t think so. Cormier looked amazing and pretty much dominated Cummins with hard right hand strikes, including an uppercut in the first round. Cummins turtled up and good ol’ Dean stopped the fight at 1:19. Let’s just say he pretty much made him pay for the things he said earlier. I guess Cummins can go back to the coffee shop now, there’s absolutely no future for this guy in the UFC.
