Is Ryan Gosling A Good Film Director? Get A Taste Here [VIDEO]

It seems like Ryan Gosling is trying to take a page out of Nicolas Winding Refn’s book with his new fantasy-neo-noir film Lost River that screened on Tuesday at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is his directorial debut, and based solely on the trailer I’m sensing an art film here that feels familiar to the works of Refn and David Lynch. But does it live up to their standards? So far I can tell you the film is a stinker based on what critics have said after viewing it at Cannes. Variety called it a “first-rate folie de grandeur” and The Telegraph says it’s “dumb-foundingly poor.”

Can you take their word for it? Not entirely because everyone has different opinions. I personally haven’t seen the damn film, but the trailer for Lost River seems convincingly good to me.
