Rousimar Palhares’ Winning Streak Stopped In First Round At Venator FC 3

On Saturday night, the welterweight title fight didn’t go the way Rousimar Palhares wanted it to go at Venator FC 3 in Milan, Italy. Emil Weber Meek shocked the mixed martial arts world by defeating Palhares early in the first round in the main event.

Meek, 27, a fairly unknown Norwegian fighter avoided Palhares’ infamous leg lock game and stopped the Brazilian with a series of elbows and punches to the side of the head, as he defended Palhares’ takedown attempt against the cage. Meek only needed 45 seconds to shake off Palhares and easily earned himself the new Venator FC Welterweight champion.

This was Palhares’ first loss since his fight with Hector Lombard at UFC on FX 6 back in December 2012.
