Earlier today, Deadline reported that Herbert W. Gains has been brought on board by Legendary as EVP Physical Production to supervise the development of two highly-anticipated creature films for the production company. The news ultimately lead to the title reveals we have all been waiting for since the sequels where first announced many months ago.
So here we go! Godzilla: King of Monsters has been attached to the Godzilla sequel, which will be penned by Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields (Krampus). Dougherty is also rumored to direct the epic movie as well.
The official title for the sequel for Pacific Rim is now Pacific Rim: Uprising, previously rumored to be called Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. The movie will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Netflix’s Daredevil) from a screenplay written by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World).
Godzilla: King of Monsters is currently scheduled to come out on March 22nd, 2019. While Pacific Rim: Uprising is targeted for February 23rd, 2018.
