Last week, we jumped the gun about Nate Diaz (16–9). We thought that Diaz was being a major pain in the ass with the attend a high school reunion on November 30th. Which is also the night he is scheduled for a rubber match to settle a score with Gray Maynard (11–2–1) at The Ultimate Fighter Season 18 Finale. Like others, we thought he was trying avoid the fight since it doesn’t sound like he’s interested in it in the first place. Plus, his brothers history with the UFC doesn’t help him one bit.when he tweeted he wanted to
However, Diaz’ manager Mike Kogan just revealed the truth behind his controversial tweet, and said that the Stockton bad boy just wanted to moved the fight unto the UFC on Fox 9 card slated for December 14th because it’s closer to his hometown.
It has nothing to do with the reunion or not reunion. He would like to see if he could fight on the Sacramento card. It’s only two weeks later. It’s closer to his house; it’s like fighting in your backyard with more fans. That’s really what it’s about.
So no harm was intentional by Diaz. All he wanted was to be closer to Stockton, California and fight in front of more fans. Is he really asking for too much here?
Both fighters are expected to square off for the third time in Las Vegas, Nevada. Diaz won the first bout by submission at TUF 5, and Maynard won the second bout three years later by split decision.
