Anyone who has any doubts about iwrestledabearonce with new vocalist Courtney LaPlante can just set them aside. Her growl is savage, more so than many male vocalists in the genre, and her clean vocals are as sweat as they are transcending. Yes, Krysta Cameron is missed, but the band has found a totally competent vocalist.

I personally feel that the band has matured exponentially on Late for Nothing, judging from the songs I’ve heard. The avant-garde band has always been experimental, but the songs feel tighter and more cohesive. The new track, “I’d Buy That for a Dollar,” puts this on display. Sure, there’s no Steve Vai on this one, but it’s just as quirky.
