Believe it or not, there’s a new John Carpenter is involved again. Hurray! Carpenter won’t be behind the lenses this time since he is only producing and serving as a creative consultant just to make sure the new Michael Myers film is made the right fucking way.sequel in the works and legendary
In fact, Carpenter dropped a nice little nugget about the timeline of the new film in a recent interview with STEREOGUM, initially picked up by Bloody Disgusting. The horror master revealed that the upcoming Halloween film will be a true sequel to the 1978 original, which will entirely skip all the other sequels pumped out over the years.
Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Laurie Strode four decades after the brutal events taken place in the first Halloween on hollows day, described by Carpenter as almost an “alternative reality.”
It’s almost an alternative reality. It picks up after the first one and it pretends that none of the other [sequels] were made. It’s gonna be fun. There’s a really talented director and it was well-written. I’m impressed.
In addition to revealing a bit about the timeline, Carpenter who helped pen the script also mentioned that he would like to potentially score the film.
Sure. I’d like to do it. I’ve worked with them a little bit on the script. I’m just around to be a cheerleader for everybody.
Halloween is expected to begin filming in Charleston, South Carolina this November. Universal Pictures will officially release the sequel on Friday, October 19, 2018.
